Chamber sees staffing changes
Hudson Chamber of Commerce and Tourism President Blake Fry will be stepping down from his position on Aug. 10 after more than three years with the chamber.
Fry has accepted a role with Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce in Missouri. Fry said the move will bring him and his family closer to both his and his wife Michele's relatives.
Fry started with the chamber in April 2015.
A letter from the chamber's board to members said the services and events at the chamber will continue as planned.
"During this transition period, the staff and board will be working together to ensure that things continue to run as smoothly as possible," the letter said, "and we are confident that the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau will emerge from this transitional period as strong as ever."
The search for a new director began this week.
Chamber Tourism Director Mary Weller has also departed from the chamber. She retired from her position on June 20 after eight years on staff. She was previously a board member.
"Mary finalized nearly all of our tourism promotions for the 2018 calendar year so there will be no interruption in our efforts to attract visitors to our beautiful area," the letter stated.
"We thank Mary and Blake for their time and work with the Chamber and Tourism Bureau," the board said.
