Wisconsin dairy farmers are concerned about the impact of tariff battles with countries like China, Mexico, and Canada.

Almost 90 percent of the dairy products produced in this state are exported. Farmers say they are struggling to show a profit while wholesale prices for dairy products have already started to fall. Wisconsin produced more than 30 billion pounds of milk last year, but it is losing an average of 50 dairy farms each month. About 500 closed last year and the volatile market is pushing dairy farmers out at an escalating rate.

Wis. man 1 of 2 arrested in fatal St. Paul shooting

Minnesota authorities say two men are in custody for a fatal shooting at the annual Hmong Freedom Festival in St. Paul.

Twenty-eight-year-old Yang Houa Xiong of La Crosse is accused of aiding and abetting the shooting. Twenty-seven-year-old Nougai Xiong of St. Paul is being investigated for second-degree murder. St. Paul police say thousands of people were at the event where the shooting took place. So far, police haven't released the name of the victim.

NW Wis. man to serve 7 years on child porn guilty plea

A federal judge has sentenced a Douglas County man to seven years in prison for a child pornography conviction.

Forty-four-year-old David Tjader entered a guilty plea in March and was sentenced in Madison Monday. Investigators with the FBI told the court they found about 2,000 messages between Tjader and a woman in the Philippines who was transmitting live sexual activity involving children. Tjader admitted receiving child pornography after he was caught in the four-year federal investigation.

2 arrested, $58K worth of heroin seized in drug bust

The Dane County Narcotics Task Force reports the seizure of more than $58,000 worth of heroin, guns, and cash — and the arrest of two men.

Investigators say 40-year-old Cory Alexander and 39-year-old Tory Latham were bringing large amounts of the drug into Madison, Sun Prairie, and Milwaukee. The product was sold to drug dealers, who passed it on to customers.  State, county, and local officials worked together on the case. Both men face charges of possession of heroin with intent to deliver and maintaining a drug dwelling.

Feds charge Milwaukee activist with trying to firebomb police station

A teen mentor in Milwaukee is accused of planning to firebomb the city's Sherman Park police station two years ago.

Police and protesters had clashed in the Sherman Park neighborhood after an MPD officer shot Syville Smith to death during a chase. Federal prosecutors accuse 31-year-old Van Mayes of talking about the attack on the police station and making Molotov cocktails. They say Mayes and a group of men went to the station, spotted officers waiting on the roof, and decided not to go forward with the attack.

Nurse at Marshfield Health Center accused of sex with patient

A Wood County deputy reports finding a nurse at the Norwood Health Center in Marshfield having sex with a patient in a restroom last March.

Twenty-three-year-old Courtney R. Brockman faces a felony charge of second-degree sexual assault of a patient. That patient was recovering from a brain injury and wasn't able to legally consent. Brockman made an initial court appearance Monday. Investigators say she told them she had sex with that patient on at least four occasions. Norwood provides inpatient care for persons with chronic, severe mental illness and rehabilitation for traumatic brain injury patients.

Man sought for child sexual assault arrested in Tennessee

A 47-year-old Rusk County man will be extradited from Tennessee so he can face charges he sexually assaulted a minor.

Robert Dilysi was arrested Friday, a day after an arrest warrant was issued in his name. A 14-year-old girl told investigators she was sleeping with some children who were in her care when Dilysi came into the bedroom and sexually assaulted her. The suspect had lived in Ingram before he moved from the area. He faces two counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child and one count of child enticement. The Rusk County Sheriff's Office began its investigation one month ago.

Divers find woman’s body in Stevens Point park waters

Rescue personnel managed to recover the body of a drowning victim at Bukholt Park in Stevens Point Saturday evening.

Police say the victim is a woman in her 30s and her name is being withheld until the family is notified. Stevens Point police say the investigation is continuing. They think the woman was visiting from outside the central Wisconsin area. It took two hours to locate the body near the boat landing at the park after the first report was made by the public. Volunteers from Dive Point scuba of Stevens Point helped with the search.
