Library Column: Summer reading program performances
Plan to "Book Your Summer" at the Hudson Area Public Library! As part of our summer reading program, we're hosting a series of performers for all ages. The programs are Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and, as always, they're free.
Here's the schedule:
Tuesday, June 12. The Big Fun Show: This one-man show features comedy, juggling, magic and modern vaudeville. Dave Walbridge ("Mr. Big Fun") has created unique shows and great memories for 21 years.
Tuesday, June 19, Dazzling Dave, Yo-Yo Master: Dave Schulte travels the world entertaining groups with his amazing yo-yo skills, and he teaches kids tricks as well.
Tuesday, June 26, Remarkable Reptiles: Jim Gerholdt is a former zoo keeper and an author of numerous books for children. His program about reptiles and their unique characteristics educates and entertains.
Tuesday, July 10, The Magic of Isaiah: Isaiah Foster's passion for magic started at age 9. Since then, he's been perfecting his art, and he's performed over 1,000 shows for groups of all ages.
Tuesday, July 17, The Bazillions: Formed by two educators, the Bazillions makes rock-and-roll music fun and accessible for kids. Their tunes are in the tradition of Schoolhouse Rock and classic Sesame Street.
Tuesday, July 24, Minnesota Raptor Center: Learn about majestic raptors from experts at the University of Minnesota.
Tuesday, July 31, Minnesota's Jack Sparrow: Joshua Godfredson's impersonation of Captain Jack Sparrow thrills kids and adults alike. He also teaches about real pirates from history.

Big Fun Show!, Tuesday, June 12, 1-2 p.m. A comedy, juggling, magic, modern vaudeville, one-man circus event. An all ages, whole family program. Part of our Book Your Summer reading program.
Teen Art - Calligraphy & Lettering, Tuesday, June 12, 4-5 p.m. Experiment with different types of calligraphy and lettering. Grades 5-12.
Book Folding, Wednesday, June 13, 1-4 p.m. We'll fold the pages of a book to create the word "read." Ages 14+. Registration required.
Reading With Teachers From Willow River Elementary, Wednesday, June 13, 1-2 .pm. Grades K-3.
Tween STEAM: Oil Spill, Thursday, June 14, 11a.m. to noon. We'll replicate the effects of an oil spill and explore ways to clean it up. Registration required.
Toddler Time, Tuesdays 10:15 a.m. Babies & Books, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10:15 a.m. Stories for All (0-5), Wednesdays 11:15 a.m.
Book Clubs: No book clubs meeting this week.
iLABS: Open Lab Time: Monday - Thursday noon to 7 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m
Tech Help: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday 4-5 p.m.
